Ringing Chimes - Chapter 4

"A minute is along time"? (Burkman, 2011)  We are living in a different time where we don't have to wait for a letter, they don't have to wait 30 minutes for dinner, and they don't want to have to think.  They want to do something anf they want it now.  With so many technological advances, we have the advantage of getting things done faster.  The disadvantage here is lack of attention and loss of critical thinkers.  Now the teacher must get their attention and make the lesson stick.

When I read the acrononym CHIMES,it reminded me of a book I read by Dr. Rich Allen, Green Light Classrooms.  He also mentions various interactive stratgeies to keep the students/audience engaged in the learning process.

Evolution Chapters 1-3

Evolution is defined as any process of formation or growth.  It is also defined as a product of such development; something evolved.  After reading these 3 chapters I have evolved, now creating more appealing and powerful presentations.  Who knew I was using the wrong color?  I always looked for cute themes and animations.  I  will be more cautious when creating presentations for my students and my colleagues.  I need to create it more like a show and tell project with more visuals and less text.  The handout should not be the exact powerpoint.  It should be in black and white and have limited text with room for written notes.  As the presenter be flexible, knowledgeable, engage your audience and smile.

I find it easier to speak amongst children then a group of my peers.  It is a struggle I deal with but have overcome many obstacles along the way.  I am not quite there yet, butI am making strides.

Technology, Technology, Technology, Oh My!

Technology...you can't live with it and you can't live without it.
I was thinking recently about the advances I have seen in only 10 years, from overhead, to document cameras, and now white boards.
Rizzo machines, to color copiers and now portable scanners.  Oh my! I look forward to finding new websites to incorporate into my teaching.
